The Area

Meribel is the central valley within the " 3 valleés " lift system in the French Alps. The 3 valleys includes Mèribel, Courchevel, Val-Thorens & Les Menuires. The Three Valleys is the world's largest ski area with over 200 ski lifts and 600 kms of pisted runs, catering for the beginner through to the expert skiier.

Mèribel is in the unique position of being able to offer a fully equipped sports centre following the 1992 Winter Olympic Games, which boasts an ice skating rink, heated swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and bowling alley. A cinema, numerous shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs all add to the lively atmosphere at Mèribel. Après-ski includes a tantalizing array of pursuits for all ages.

Les Allues Meribel where the chalet is located is, in fact, the oldest village in the three valleys and its history goes back to Roman times. Les Allues, offers a more laid back alternative to the bustling Mèribel. There is a choice of four restaurants, a small supermarket and historic medieval buildings.

Travel to the main ski lifts is a 10 minute car journey, or 20 minutes by cable car. A free shuttle bus operates between Les Allues and Mèribel. There is a pisted ski run down to Les Allues when conditions permit.
